What is Raktamokshana Therapy?
Raktamokshan, also known as bloodletting therapy, is an ancient Ayurvedic and traditional healing practice involving the removal of a small amount of blood to balance body energies and improve health. It is used for specific conditions, especially those related to blood and skin disorders.
Why is Raktamokshana Therapy Recommended?
Toxic blood accumulation causes stubborn skin diseases (psoriasis, eczema), non-healing varicose ulcers, severe itching, localized swelling, and inflammatory stagnation.
Therapeutic Mode of Action
- Preparation: Thorough consultation, diagnostic assessment, site cleaning, and sanitization.
- Procedure Selection: Site selected based on condition (superficial veins, forehead, ear, or localized lesion).
- Controlled Bloodletting: Performed using sterile lancets (Siravedhana) or medicinal leeches (Jalaukavacharana).
- Collection & Healing: Stagnant blood extracted under supervision, followed by antiseptic dressing.
